Mark Tizya

Mark is passionate about building a sustainable future and brings a variety of skills to the EVO table. He began his construction career as a journeyman in the glass trade. As a result of his natural aptitude for leadership and management, he was headhunted by a European roll shutter and awning company in Vancouver and he became the Regional Manager. Six years later he started Heritage Shade and Shutter, and his own  business grew exponentially, adding a manufacturing arm within 5 years and supplying commercial outdoor patio installations to restaurant chains including Cactus Club. In 2012 he spun off into a solar energy division, Novo Solar Solutions.  His broad knowledge in the renewable energy field coupled with an array of successful projects landed him various speaking opportunities in the company of David Suzuki and others advocating for a clean energy future.  As a member of the Carcross First Nation, Mark has also provided a range of consulting services to First Nations communities across the Northwest, supporting them in creating safe, sustainable energy systems (and jobs) in the process

In 2019, Mark fell in love with Vancouver Island and decided to leave city living in favour of the slower pace and natural beauty. He sold his businesses in Vancouver and joined another passionate renewable energy team at Hakai Energy solutions in Cumberland where he remains a technical sales consultant. Mark is a serial entrepreneur, acquiring Lifetime Exterior Shades in Courtenay in 2020 and quadrupling it’s sales and capacity with large scale construction projects. He currently divides his time between the 2 Comox Valley businesses and a 9.5 acre organic farm retreat.

Mark’s expertise has been invaluable to Evo on numerous fronts, from helping us to design an energy-efficient unit, to assisting us in identifying suppliers and machinists with a track record of excellence and consulting on various aspects of manufacturing and business strategy.  His sales and technical support skillsets will also come into play as we launch our go-to-market plan
